Waraqa ibn Nawfal, paternal cousin of Khadija, Christian scholar of Mecca who had studied the Scriptures. When Muhammad ﷺ described his first vision in the cave of Hira to him, Waraqa identified the angel as Jibril (Gabriel) and announced he was the awaited prophet. Died shortly after, before the public revelation.
