Abu Lahab (Abd al-Uzza ibn Abd al-Muttalib), paternal uncle and one of the fiercest opponents of the Prophet. Surah 111 (al-Masad) is explicitly directed at him. He died of grief shortly after the Quraysh defeat at Badr in 624.
