Abū Dharr Jundub ibn Junāda al-Ghifārī was among the earliest converts to Islam, held to be the fourth or fifth to embrace it. Known for his radical asceticism and his acute sense of social justice, he fiercely opposed the hoarding of wealth. The Prophet said of him: "The sky has cast no shade upon anyone more truthful than Abū Dharr." Because of his criticism of ʿUthmān he was exiled to al-Rabadha, where he died alone.
